Masters of Education (MEd) in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
This is a two year on campus program. Students who apply should already have or be eligible for a teaching license in elementary education, special education, or a secondary education subject area. This will allow students to have a dual certification upon completion of the Deaf Education graduate program.

Masters of Arts in Deaf Education
This is a year and a half program on campus. The Master of Arts in Education: Teacher Preparation Program emphasizes culturally relevant critical pedagogy as a foundation for preparing highly qualified teachers to work primarily with Deaf and hard-of-hearing children and youth. Candidates will follow a merged course of study resulting in dual licensure in Deaf Education and one of the following areas of general education: Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Biology Education, Secondary Chemistry Education, Secondary English Education, Secondary General Science Education, Secondary Mathematics Education or Secondary Social Studies Education. Candidates who have previously completed a program and hold state licensure in general education may enroll in the Deaf Education component of the program.

Bellevue College (World Language Institute: ASL)
These are courses to become proficient in Sign Language before entering a Masters.
The World Languages Institute American Sign Language classes will give you the tools to:
• Learn the ASL manual communication alphabet
• Use everyday phrases to engage in simple conversation
• Learn ASL grammar and vocabulary
• Use facial expressions and body language to enhance your ASL communication skills
• Understand and interact appropriately within the deaf culture
There are three courses (3 credits each) to teach these skills. (American Sign Language 1, 2, & 3.)

The Translation and Interpretation Certificate Program offers balanced, comprehensive, and rigorous professional training for those who are highly fluent in English and at least one other language and want to facilitate communication between speakers of these languages.
